Corgi, 100% made in the UK.

We are a family run business using traditional production methods, with a trend led approach to luxury accessories and knitwear. Our factory is still located in the small Welsh mining village where the Corgi story began back in 1892.

Our heritage and history are key to what we make and how we make it. We are committed to our craft and make socks to last. We are committed to quality, attention to detail and keeping the heart of our brand alive.

From humble beginnings making stockings for the local mining community, Corgi has developed a global reputation as a luxury sock brand.

In 1989 Corgi was honoured by the award of a Royal Warrant from HRH The Prince of Wales. We continue to make socks for members of the Royal Family to this day.

Our History in a nutshell.

Corgi was founded in 1892 by Carmarthenshire draper Rhys Jones.

Inspired by the purchase of some second-hand knitting machines, Rhys began producing thigh-high woollen socks for local coal miners. Over time, his small range grew to include finer quality socks, perfect for men to wear to church on Sunday.

From the outset Rhys paid close attention to detail and was passionate about the quality of his goods. His reputation for creating high quality knitwear accessories that could be passed down from one generation to another grew, and demand for his products spread across South Wales and beyond.

Today, Rhys’s obsession with quality and attention to detail has been carried forward by his great, great grandchildren, Lisa Wood and Chris Jones. This is the key heritage of the brand, and Corgi continues to design and produce the very best socks and knitwear, hand crafted in wool, cotton and cashmere. Still based in Carmarthenshire, in the town where Corgi was established, the factory now employs many local makers and creatives.

In 2008 Corgi joined forces with its sister company Dents, the UK’s leading luxury glovemaker. Corgi has expanded its markets worldwide, from designer fashion houses and catwalks to household stores. Corgi is committed to quality and its heritage, inspired by Wales and its unique landscape.
