At Corgi Socks, we take our socks and knitwear seriously — but we never take ourselves too seriously. After all, we were named after the Queen’s favourite dog! With over 130 years of sock-making heritage, royal connections, and in-house design, we’ve built quite a legacy. Here are five fun facts that even our most loyal fans might not know:
1. We Were Literally Named After a Dog
Yes, a real Corgi. In the 1930s, the name "Corgi" was inspired by our founders' love of the spirited little breed adored by Queen Elizabeth II that happened to win Crufts that year. The name stuck — and so did the dog-loving culture. We still design playful socks featuring Corgis to this day. The Corgi Dog Socks are one of our bestsellers.
2. We Hold a Royal Warrant from His Majesty King Charles III
We’re not just royal in name. We proudly hold a Royal Warrant from King Charles III (formerly The Prince of Wales), granted for supplying him and other members of the Royal Family with fine knitwear and socks. That’s right — our socks have graced royal feet!
3. Every Pair Is Still Made in the Same Welsh Village Since 1892
We’ve been based in Ammanford, South Wales for over 130 years. Our skilled team of artisans uses time-honoured techniques to knit every pair. It’s true slow fashion: quality over quantity, with every stitch telling a story.

4. We Don’t Just Do Socks — We Make Custom Cashmere Sweaters Too
Surprise! We’re more than just socks. Our artisans also create luxury, made-to-order knitwear in 100% cashmere or lambs wool, they even make personalised monograms. All handcrafted at our Welsh HQ — just like our socks.
5. We’re Not Just a Team — We’re Family (Literally!)
At Corgi HQ, it’s not unusual to find sisters knitting side by side, or aunties and nieces hand-finishing socks together. Many of our artisans come from the same families, passing down skills through generations — just like our founders did. It’s this close-knit (pun fully intended!) community that gives our products their unmistakable warmth and heart.
At Corgi HQ, craftsmanship runs in the family.
From sisters knitting side by side, to aunties teaching nieces the art of hand-linking toes, our workshop is full of shared laughter, stories… and serious sock skills.
For over five generations, we've passed down techniques (and tea breaks!) through families right here in South Wales. It’s this close-knit community that gives every pair of Corgi Socks that special something.
💛 Family made. Family worn. Family loved.
